Fitness - Back Flexibility and Strength Exercises

If you have ever suffered from severe backache you will know just what a central part the back plays in our lives. Even something as simple as squeezing a tennis ball in your hand can be extremely painful as the action uses not only the muscles of the forearm, but also the biceps, the latissimus dorsi muscles and other back muscles.

The latissimus dorsi muscles, or 'lats', are the large muscles that run down each side of the upper body and are what gives a man his triangular shaped.

Fitness

Just about every sport requires strong back muscles to act as a 'pillar' to support the main limbs in movement and also to provide balance, movement, speed and coordination.

Fitness - Back Flexibility and Strength Exercises

Here are a few easy exercises to help to both stretch and strengthen those important back muscles. The majority are best performed on a firm, but not hard, surface as, while you work the muscles, you don't want to put undue pressure on bony parts of the body.

Knee to Chest

Lie on your back and clasp your hands behind one of your thighs. Pull your thigh slowly up toward your chest, while being careful to keep the other leg flat on the ground. Hold this position for five seconds before lowering the leg and repeating the exercise with the other leg. Start will about 10 repetitions of this exercise and slowly build this up over time.

Rotations

Lie on your back with your knees together and raised so that your feet are flat on the floor. With your arms extended close the body, and your palms flat on the floor, lift your feet a couple of inches off the ground and rotate your trunk by moving your knee, first to the left and then to the right.

At first, don't strain yourself by trying to rotate your knees too far but, as you become more flexible and build strength, you can increase your range of movement. Ultimately, you should be able to touch your knees to the floor.

Pelvic Press

Once again lie on your back with your knees raised and your feet flat on the floor. Push the small of your back into the floor and hold it there for a few seconds while you feel the tension in your lower abdominal muscles. Vary the action by moving your feet together and performing the exercise and then repeating the exercise with your feet slightly apart.

Pelvic Lift

This time lie on your back with your knees raised, your feet flat on the ground and your arms crossed over your chest. Keeping your legs and knees together, raise your buttocks a couple of inches off the floor and hold the position for a few seconds. Then, lower your buttocks slowly back onto the floor, count to two, and repeat the exercise again.

Dog Stretches

Okay last one! Get down on all fours and raise your head so that you're looking straight ahead. Lower your arms and, at the same time, arch your back. Hold this position for a couple of seconds and then resume your starting position.

Next, slowly extend one leg, as near parallel to the floor as you can and hold it up for two or three seconds before returning it to the floor. (If this particular exercise results in pain in the back, hip, or leg you should stop immediately.) Switch legs and repeat this exercise about ten times for each leg at first and gradually increase the number of repetitions over time.

Fitness - What Are the Different Kinds of Fitness Exercises?

With a lot of people becoming more self conscious as well as concerned about personal fitness, gym memberships, enrollment in yoga classes and subscriptions to dietary plans have skyrocketed during the past few years. All are aimed to help people become more and more fit, healthier and lead happier, more active and healthy lives.

Now there are a lot of different fitness exercises that you can take your pick from. And this article will discuss each training exercises to better give you an idea on what kind of fitness exercise would work best for you:

Fitness

• Resistance training exercises help a person to toughen up and be able to create for him or herself a lean, taut and overall toned up body. This requires a person to use free weights in training to build up strength and endurance.

Fitness - What Are the Different Kinds of Fitness Exercises?

• Stretching Exercises help to extend your limbs and as well as your muscles to their maximum possible length. Stretching exercises help to loosen you up and is most preferred as warm up exercises before a work out or gym session.

• Aerobic exercises on the other hand help you to have an elevated heart rate over a sustainable time period. This helps you get an improved cardiovascular system by exercising proper breathing techniques and is more preferred to be done within a group. It promotes muscle toning as well as helping you keep a healthy heart and lungs.

At first, you may feel pain and feel sore all over due to the exertion of your muscles and because your body is rebuilding itself. The next time you go to your gym again, you are going to be better prepared to tackle your hard road towards overall fitness. Regular exercise will produce faster and more positive results so you have to be sure you are going to be disciplined enough to maintain your routine and regimen. Results will come. Consistency and patience as well as hard work will pay off.

Do not over exert yourself however, as this may lead to much bigger problems. If you feel that your muscles are too sore from over training or if a specific routine brings a lot of pain that you cannot manage, try switching to a much lighter type of work out and start from there. Otherwise, you may be just doing something wrong. Keep in mind that it is important to loosen up by doing warm up exercises first.

Top 5 Pectoral Workout Exercises to Get That Chiseled Chest

You have to admit, the pecs are one of the most noticed sets of muscles on a male... and you know that women love to see a nice bulging chest. The only way you can get that however, is by having an effective pectoral workout. Having a strong chest is not only important for having a good looking body, but it's also important for your health and athletics. It's the one of the largest muscle groups on your body, and it is used on most of the activities you do that require your upper body. For example, when you swing a racket or throw a baseball.

If you want to build a nice strong chest, then here are 5 of my top exercises that are very effective and should be added to your pectoral workout:

Workout

Pectoral Workout Exercise #1: Decline Bench Press (Lower Pectoral Muscles)

a. Lie down on a decline bench. It should be angled from 30° to 45°. Make sure that you are comfortable with the angle.
b. Lift the bar off of its rack and hold it straight up over your chest.
c. Slowly lower the bar until it touches your chest, then hold it for a second, and then return it to its starting position.

Pectoral Workout Exercise #2: Incline Bench Press (Upper Pectoral Muscles)

a. Lie down on a decline bench. It should be angled from 30° to 45°.
b. Lift the bar off of the bench's rack, and keep it above your chest.
c. Lower the bar until it slightly touches your pectorals, and then lift it back up to its starting position.

Pectoral Workout Exercise #3: Standing Cable Cross-Overs (Inner Pectoral)

a. Stand in between the two cable handles.
b. With your palms facing towards the ground, grab the two handles.
c. While keeping your arms slightly locked, lower the both of the handles until they cross each other's paths.
d. Slowly bring the two handles back to their starting positions.

Pectoral Workout Exercise #4: Pec-Deck Flys (Greater and Lesser Pectoral Muscles)

Depending on the machine, the method may be a little different, but it they should all be very similar:

a. Sit on the machine, and make sure your whole upper body is being supported by the back rest. Make sure your hands are behind the pads, and then grasp the handles.
b. Now pull your arms together across the front of your body until they are touching.
c. Open your arms slowly at the same time. Stop when both of your arms are at the sides of your body.

Pectoral Workout Exercise #5:Flat-Bench Dumbbell Flys (Outer Pectorals)

a. Lie down on your back on a flat bench. Keep your feet on the ground, and hold a dumbbell in each hand. With your arms nearly straight, bring them directly over your shoulders.
b. Lower both of the dumbbells in a semi-circle type of movement. Be sure to bring them down on a straight path.
c. Keep on lowering the dumbbells until they are at your shoulder level. When you are at the shoulder level, life the weights back up the same way to your starting position.

Upper Arm Exercises - 2 of the Best!

If you're looking for some good upper arm exercises, you've come to the right place. I'm only going to list two of them - one for the biceps and one for the triceps - but these 2 upper arm exercises are my personal favourites.

I try to incorporate these exercises into a lot of the programs I design for my clients. So not only have I personally experienced great results with them but I've witnessed many others (my clients) experience great results as well.

\"exercises Workout\"

Upper Arm Exercises

The first of the arm exercises is a movement for the triceps. The triceps - as you may or may not know - are located at the back of the upper arm and regardless of whether you're training for weight loss or training for muscle gain, your triceps shouldn't be overlooked.

Guys, the triceps are actually larger than the biceps so if you're trying to get big arms, you really need to make training your triceps a priority. And ladies, I know that the back of your arm is a problem area and yes, it's true - you're actually prone to store fat there, which certainly sucks for you! But don't worry, here's the solution..

Decline Triceps Extensions: Studies actually indicate that this is the absolute most effective exercise for the triceps. Performing the traditional lying triceps extension using a decline bench increases the difficulty of the movement and delivers a much more efficient muscle contraction - which of course, delivers better results!

And as for the biceps - which are located at the front of the upper arm - I find the best exercise to be..

Standing Dumbbell Curls: Nothing incredibly original here. Dumbbell curls are one of the most popular exercises but there's a few techniques that should be implemented to get the most out of your efforts. First, you should rotate your palms upwards as you draw your hands towards your shoulders.

Doing so will enable you to get a more efficient contraction within the biceps because they actually play a role in rotating your palms upwards. The second trick is to perform as many simultaneous repetitions as you can and once you reach exhaustion, you then perform the curls one arm at a time as this will provide a longer rest period between repetitions - which will enable you to get a little more out of each set.

Upper Arm Exercises - 2 of the Best!

But How Do I Even Perform These Exercises?

No problem there! You can view step by step instructions and even video demonstrations on how to perform both of these exercises - as well as many others - by clicking the links below..

The Advanced - Calisthenics Exercises That Will Make You Cry - Upper Body

Most of these calisthenics exercises will give you a full body workout, but these primarily focus on the upper-body: arms, back, shoulders, chest.

Handstand Push-Up
Yes. You guessed it. Get into the not so difficult handstand position. Then do a push-up. Have someone hold your legs, or rely on a wall for support when you're starting out. As you get better at balancing, you will be able to perform this exercise free-standing. Note: the most difficult part about a handstand is our fear of falling over our head. Conquer that fear by practicing falling on a softer surface.

\"exercises Workouts\"

Reverse Wall Dip
Similar to a typical dip, focusing on arms and shoulders; this one is done on the ledge of a wall. The starting position is the same as when you do sit ups with your knees bent and your arms at your sides. The only difference is that you're not laying down horizontally, your body is vertical, with you feet flat on the wall, and your arms suspending you at the edge of a ten story building. You can tone it down a bit, and just find a 5 foot ledge to work your triceps on, but how will you develop your inner strength?

One-Arm Wall Dips
A lot like a one-arm push-up; but instead of having your body weight distributed between your feet and arm, your mainly relying on just one arm. If you're really really short, then perhaps a good sturdy desk will do, otherwise go find a wall! Maybe do a few regular dips to get into it, and once your ready use only one hand. It may help to lean forward a bit so that your arm is directly bellow your chest, and pivot as you lower and raise yourself back up.

Climb Ups
Can be done on a pull-up bar or a wall (easier, because you can use your legs to help you), turn a pull-up into a climb. Pull yourself up, so that your chin is in line with the ledge/bar and then swing on of your elbows up, then the other up, raising your body a few more inches. Finally raise your body all the way up, so that the ledge/bar is now at your hips. Now do a dip and lower yourself back down. If you can....repeat.

The Advanced - Calisthenics Exercises That Will Make You Cry - Upper Body

Some calisthenics exercises are more challenging than others. Start with the easier ones and proceed to those that are a bit harder.

Arm Exercises For Men - Killer Arm Workout For Men For Explosive Growth!

Arm exercises for men are some of the most important exercises that we do. While lots of people try to sell you the latest powders or shakes to add protein, they ignore the fact that good, quality exercise makes the difference between being ripped and not being ripped. Workouts for your arms are probably more important than other exercises because women say they instantly notice your arms when they see a man. If you have big arms then you are immediately deemed more powerful, attractive and you'll feel a lot better about your physique. I want to share with you the best biceps, triceps and forearm super-set arm exercises for men so that you can get bigger arm muscles as fast as possible...

First I'm going to explain some exercise theory that I learned when I was starting out. This stuff has helped me go from super-weedy to super-ripped. I mentioned super-sets. They are sets where you work all the muscles in a muscle group after each other. This actually helps you to gain 30% more muscle than if you didn't do them. 30% is a lot in the long term. After a month or two you begin to see how beneficial super-sets can be. Arm exercises for men are very important here because we want bigger arms. Women, on the other hand, should probably stay away from super-sets!

\"exercises Workout\"

Arm Exercises For Men - The Muscles We Target

There are three main arm muscles that we're targeting when we do arm workouts. These are forearms, triceps and biceps. The best way to see any real gains is to do a super-set on each of these arm muscles. Therefore, our arm workout needs to be focused on the best super-set routines.

Arm Exercises For Men - Forearm Super-Set

The forearm is often ignored by guys who want to get bigger arms. But when you have big forearms you don't get the case of having big upper arms and weedy lower arms. These forearm super-sets shouldn't be ignored.

Forearm Workout Exercise 1: Seated Dumbbell Wrist Curl

For this exercise, sit on a workout bench and lean forward and put your arm flat on the bench between your legs. Your wrist and hand should be hanging over the side of the bench. Now you should take a dumbbell and curl your wrist. So you go all the way back back and all the way towards you (with your palm facing up). Aim to do 15-20 reps at high weight. Remember to use your weaker hand first, then match the reps and weight with your stronger hand. Move immediately onto this:

Forearm Workout Exercise 2: Seated Barbell Reverse Curl

This time kneel on the floor and put your forearms on the bench. Your palms face down and your wrists and hands are over the edge of the bench. Grip the barbell and allow your hands to drop, then raise them as far back as you can. That's one rep. Again do 15-20 at heavy weight.

You should do two sets of this forearm workout. (Remember: The arm exercises for men that I'm revealing cause muscle growth. If you're female then use light weights!)

Arm Exercises For Men - Triceps Super-Set

Lots of guys believe that biceps are what make your arms look big. In fact, 66% of what makes your arms look muscular is triceps. Here's the best triceps super-set that you can do for fast, explosive muscle growth...

Triceps Workout Exercise 1: Close Grip Bench Press:

First, lie on your back with your head underneath bar, eyes aligned with bar and feet flat on the floor. Then position hands on bar together in the centre of the bar so that hands are touching (this is different from a normal bench press if that's what you're thinking - we're targeting the triceps muscles!) To start, lift the bar off the rack with the bar directly over head. Lower the bar to your mid chest area. Press the bar up to start position. Remember: Don't do this exercise using your normal bench-press weight. This is a triceps exercise and the weight you use should be significantly lower. However, it should still be hard to do 2 sets of 15 reps! If you can, use a spotter!

This is one of the best arm exercises for men in my opinion. It's my favorite triceps exercise ever because it works very well!

Triceps Workout Exercise 2: Reverse Grip Press down:

First, secure a door strap overhead at top of door. (This is on the exercise machines where you can adjust the height - you want this at the very top.) Now, stand approximately 2-3 feet away from the attachment point with your feet shoulder width apart and your knees slightly bent.

To start the exercise, grasp the handles with your palms facing down. Lower the handles to chest level so that elbows are bent at 90°. Then, keeping your shoulders stabilized and elbows close to sides, extend your arm and lower bar to hip level. Repeat! This is two sets of 15 reps.

Arm Exercises For Men - Biceps Super-Set

Whenever you think about arm exercises for men you think of the classic biceps curl... That is included in this super-set. Here it is in full:

Biceps Workout Exercise 1: Supinated Incline Bicep Curls

Start by lying on an incline bench with your arms at your side holding dumbbells with palms facing downwards (you have to bend your wrist to achieve this). Then slowly curl the dumbbells up rotating your palms so that your palms are facing up at the top of the movement and your elbows at your side. Then return to the starting position and repeat for 15 repetitions.

Biceps Workout Exercise 2: Reverse Barbell Curl

Hold a barbell with an overhand grip and your palms facing your body. Then, keeping your elbows at your side curl the barbell up to chest level. Return to the starting position and repeat 15 times.

Arm Exercises For Men - Hints & Tips

When you do this routine, start with the forearms. Go from forearm workout exercise 1 to 2, then back to 1 and then 2. Then move on to the Triceps circuit, and follow the same format.

Remember that you should struggle to complete two sets of 15 reps. If you're not struggling speed up how long it takes and raise the weights. (Be very careful on the close grip bench press! Use a lesser weight so you don't hurt yourself unless you have a spotter.)

Workout For Speed and Vertical Jump, Or the Best Explosive Exercises

A workout for speed and vertical jump isn't easy to find. There are many good and simple exercises that will improve your vertical, but not necessarily your quickness. On the other hand, a workout for speed alone won't really improve your vertical jump. So you need to combine both elements in your workout.

One simple exercise that is a must in order to improve your speed is Wind Sprints: sprint for 50 meters, then rest for 20 seconds. Repeat it 4 times. Do this exercise 3 times a week and you will become faster and also your vertical jump will improve as it's not only about power but also quickness.

\"exercises Workout\"

The other element that you need to include in your workout is the Jump Rope. Jumping rope really boosts your calf strength - this is one of the most important muscle groups in the jumping process and will give your missing explosiveness. Use the Jump Rope 3 times a week (200 jumps per session).

In order to increase your vertical jump, plyometric exercises are extremely effective. Here are three of them:

1) Depth Jumps. For this exercise you need a 2-3 feet-high box. Get on top of the box. Drop off and jump back in the air as soon as you land.

2) Leap ups. Start with your legs straight, then go down to a 1/4 squat position and jump in the air with full strength.

3) Thrust ups. With your legs straight, bounce as high as you can. As soon as you come down, bounce back up without bending your legs.

Two things are crucial here: the right number of repetitions and the proper execution. It's not about the quantity or how many repetitions you do (which trains your jumping endurance), but the quality of the repetitions. That means you need a concrete workout plan with videos and pictures that will guarantee a proper execution. I personally can recommend the brand-new The Jump Manual as it's truly the only program that targets every aspect of vertical explosion.

Hip Replacement Exercises - Pre & Post Surgery Hip Exercises

A diagnosis of osteoarthritis of the hip generally progresses to the likelihood of requiring a hip replacement in the near future. As the degenerative condition advances, it causes a decreased range of motion, pain, muscle weakness, gait changes, and tight muscles. Specific exercises designed for hip arthritis can help maintain range of motion at your joint, prevent loss of muscle, stretch muscles that will become tight, and lubricate the joint to decrease stiffness and pain. In addition, performing exercises prior to surgery will speed up your recovery post operation.

Goals of a Hip Arthritis Exercise Program - Pre Operation:

Exercise

There are two main goals to target with a pre operation hip arthritis exercise program. One is strength of the gluteal muscles and the other is to maintain range of motion by working within your pain free range. There are exercises that work both of these goals simultaneously. The gluteal muscles are extremely important to strengthen pre operation because they comprise the stability of the joint. Ironically, arthritis causes pain, decreased range of motion, and therefore less weight bearing which all contribute to atrophy, or shrinking, of the gluteal muscles. Therefore, it is paramount to actively engage in specific strength exercises that target these muscles. Although strength and range of motion are highlighted as the priorities here, cardiovascular or aerobic conditioning is also extremely important. Usually due to pain and decreased range of motion, both walking and overall activity are reduced drastically which negatively lowers an individual's aerobic capacity. Using stationary bikes or participating in water classes are excellent non weight bearing options to keep your cardiovascular conditioning strong.

Hip Exercises Post Surgery

There are a series of exercises your physiotherapist will guide you through immediately post operation. They will guide you through an exercise program that will be safe with the goal of returning you to full function in daily activities. This program will last up to 6 to 8 weeks post operation. A lot of patients stop the exercises once they are discharged or released from the supervision of their physiotherapy. It is imperative that you continue hip strengthening exercises in a progressive format for at least one year post operation. Patients that have continued with an exercise program consistently for a full year post operation, receive amazing results in functional ability.

Goals of Hip Arthritis Exercise Program - Post Operation:

Follow the exercise program guidelines given to you by your physiotherapist for the first 6 to 8 weeks post operation. The post operation exercise program varies from the pre operation program on three aspects which include the following: range of motion stretches have to be modified to follow restrictions that protect your joint from dislocation, strength exercises will progress to weight bearing, and one leg balance exercises along with gait retraining become a priority. Post surgery, the goal of your exercise program should be to progressively advance your strength exercises, when your body is ready, from isolated muscular endurance exercises to dynamic, functional exercises. Again, the most important muscles to strengthen post operation are your gluteals. Your exercise program should also include quadricep strengthening and core stability exercises. When you are selecting exercises, it is highly advised to select unilateral or one limb exercises in order to make the strength equal across limbs.

The journey your muscles have endured from the pre surgery pain through the operation leaves them tight and contracted in a shortened position. Therefore, stretching is equally important to include in your post operation exercise program. Often the hip flexors, hamstrings, and quadriceps will be tight post operation and need to be stretched. The very exciting aspect of the post operation exercise program is that you are pain free and therefore can gradually increase your cardiovascular training time and intensity to your pre arthritic conditioned level.

When you are disciplined at consistently keeping up with your exercises and gradually progress through incremental stages of exercises, you will notice huge improvements in your cardiovascular, strength, flexibility, balance, gait, and overall functional ability. The importance of engaging in a regular, consistent exercise program both pre and post hip operation will impact your full recovery greatly. A hip exercise program is the best single action you can take to encourage a highly successful return to function post surgery.

The Best Thigh Exercises for Sexy Thighs and a Firm Butt

When it comes to the best thigh exercises, you see a lot of ads promoting all of these fancy so-called thigh-toning machines, and inner-thigh blasters, and thigh squeezers, and so on. Trust me when I say that you don't need any of these silly "thigh-blasting" machines to tighten and tone-up your legs and butt for good.

As always, the best exercises for the thighs come in the form of free-weight or bodyweight exercises. You really need not look any further than various forms of exercises like squats, lunges, step-ups, and deadlifts to get those sexy tight thighs that you desire. Also, there are dozens of variations of these basic exercises that you can choose from, so the truth is that you are really just wasting your time with all of these fancy thigh machines and inner-thigh gadgets.

\"exercises Workouts\"

Let me give you an example of one of the best thigh exercises you can do. I'm sure you've done some form of lunges before. There's probably about a dozen different variations you can do and they all kick butt!

One of my favorite variations of lunges are walking lunges. Instead of standing in place and either lunging forward or lunging backward one step and coming back, with walking lunges you keep moving forward on each step for a certain distance and then turn around and come back. Challenge yourself for more distance each time or start carrying dumbbells to increase the resistance. Walking lunges done right are a real thigh-burning exercise!

A couple pointers to keep in mind when doing walking lunges:

1) Step far enough forward so that your front shin stays approximately vertical and your front thigh is about parallel to the ground at the bottom of the step

2) The leg that is trailing you should have a bend in the knee at the bottom but your knee should just come short of touching the ground. Do not touch the back knee to the ground during these exercises.

3) Pause for a split second at the top of each step before lunging forward again.

Alright, now that you have the basic walking lunge down, let me give you a couple ideas for variations that change the emphasis just a bit for working the inner thighs, outer thighs, and butt in a slightly different manner.

One variation is that you can step at an angle outward on each step forward. Another variation is that you can step at a slight angle inward on each step forward. This inward stepping walking lunge is fairly unique and sometimes called a cross-over lunge. It really stretches out the butt and hips.

So go ahead and give these lunge variations a try and you'll be tightening up those thighs in no time flat. Just say no to the fancy machines and use these classic bodyweight exercises and some free weights and you'll be much better off.

See below for more unique thigh exercises and variations that will have you showing off your new sexier legs.

Do you know that in order to keep your heart healthy and your weight under control, you need to walk at least 10,000 steps each day? This may sound daunting but many activities you're doing everyday such as running errands or doing household works can add up to a few hundred or even thousand of steps for you.

To maintain your health and make sure you achieve the 10,000 steps each day, here are some simple and easy exercises that you can do at home. These exercise routines not only help to keep you fit but also will tone your body as they work on some specific muscle groups. They are a lot more effective than the general exercises such as running errands and doing house chores. Here are the exercises you can easily do at home:

Exercise

- Stretching exercises. Stand with both of your hands against a wall and move your left leg back so that your foot is flat against the floor. Hold for a few seconds; then repeat this move with the right leg. Another great stretching exercise you can perform is to lie on your back, use both hands, bring up your right knee to your chest and hold it for a few seconds. Repeat this routine with your left leg.

- Curl is very easy to do. Just lie on your back with both hands behind your head and raise your upper body. Repeat this move for 15-20 times.

- Leg exercises can be done by lying down on your side and lifting each leg repeatedly for 15-20 times. You can also stand and hold on to the back of a chair and lift your legs backward repeatedly.

- Arm exercises. This is important to improve muscle tone. For arm exercises, you can use an exercise band. Place both feet on one end of the band, hold the other ends with each hand and then repeatedly raise and lower the band (in an up and down motion for 10-15 minutes). If you have a pair of dumbbell, you can also use them to exercise your arms.

- If you are working at home and sitting in front of your computer most of the time, try to press down on your toes in an up and down motion frequently. This activity will help to keep the blood circulation flowing in your legs.

- If you know how to dance, put on a music CD and dance for about 20-30 minutes. This is a great cardiovascular workout. You can also incorporate push-ups, sit-ups and jumping rope into your daily home exercise routine.

- Abs workout. I have found a great 8 minute video showing you how to do abs workout at home. You can watch the video at "Best Abs Workout At Home - Only 8 Minute".

NOTE: Always do some stretching to warm up before starting any exercise routine to prevent injury.

Front Thigh Exercises For Women

For women, shaping the muscles of the thighs is an important fitness goal. A shapely lower body is considered very feminine, and the right proportion of the waist to the hips is part of the equation. It;s surprising, but true - Thigh toning exercises can be done at home, without equipment and results can be seen in 4-6 weeks. Also, did you know that thigh and hip toning gadgets are not required if you know which exercises work, and how to do them. Most importantly, thigh exercises are most effective when combined with aerobic exercise and a healthy diet.

This means that women must not only do the right thigh exercises, but also include aerobic exercise and sound nutrition to get best results.

\"exercises Workout\"

The following exercises are the most effective front thigh exercises for women. The routine also includes inner thigh and rear thigh exercises.

For best results, start with 15-20 repetitions and one set. Increase gradually to 2 sets. Complete the routine at least 2 times a week for best results. This is an effective beginner to intermediate toning program. Please remember that these numbers are general guidelines only. For an optimum program tailored to your needs, please consult a certified personal trainer. If you have any injuries or medical ailments, please obtain a physicians clearance before starting any exercise program.

Wall Squat - Front Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: - Place your upper back against a smooth wall. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, toes pointed slightly outward. Distribute your body weight equally between both feet and lean back against the wall. Movement: - Inhale, keeping your heels in contact with the floor at all times, slowly lower into a squat position while sliding down the wall. Exhale as you slowly straighten your legs, keeping your head and chest up, returning to the starting position. Repeat as required.

Standing Dumbbell Squats - Front Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: - Hold a dumbbell in each hand and allow them to hang down at your sides. Stand with your feet shoulder width apart, toes pointed slightly outward. Distribute your body weight equally between both feet. Movement: - Inhale, keeping your heels in contact with the floor at all times, slowly lower into a squat position. Exhale as you slowly straighten your legs, keeping your head and chest up, returning to the starting position. Repeat as required. 5 lb dumbbells work well, but you can start with 2 lbs and then work your way up to 5 lbs within 3-5 weeks.

Lunges - Front Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: - Assume a standing position with your feet slightly less than shoulder width apart. Grasp a barbell with a wider than shoulder width grip and place it across your shoulders. Movement: - Inhale, keeping your back vertical and slightly arched, slowly step forward with one leg making a long stride, lowering your body down slowly until your rear knee lightly touches the floor (if you cannot go as low as this, then work your way up to it over 2-3 weeks). Exhale and shift your weight backwards, taking one step (or 2-3 small steps if that sounds difficult) to return to the starting position. Repeat on the other side. Remember to consult your doctor before this or any other knee exercises if you have had any knee trouble!

Lying Face Down - Front Thigh Stretch.

Starting Position: Lie on your stomach on a matt with your legs together. Movement: Reach behind you and grasp your right ankle with your left hand. Pull your right heel up as far as you can. Hold this position for thirty seconds. Repeat as required on other side. Please remember to hold for 10 seconds for this stretch.

Seated Split Stretch - Inner Thigh Stretch.

Starting Position: Sit on an exercise matt and spread your legs as far as you can. Movement: Lean to your right side and reach for your toes. Rest your hands on your toes or at your ankle. Hold this position for thirty seconds. Repeat as required on other side.

Seated Butterfly - Inner Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: Sit on an exercise matt with your back straight. Movement: Bring the soles of your feet together and pull them in as close to your body as you can. Allow your hands to rest on your feet or to apply light pressure to your thighs. Hold this position for thirty seconds. Hold this position for 10 seconds. You will find this most effective if you gently push your knees down using your hands, be careful not to push too much.

Seated Hip Twist - Outer Thigh And Rear Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: Sit on an exercise matt with your legs straight out in front of you. Movement: Bend your right knee and place your right foot over your left leg. Wrap your arms around your right knee and gently pull it in towards your left shoulder. Hold this position for thirty seconds. Repeat as required on other side. Remember to hold for 10 seconds.

Lying Leg Pull - Total Thigh Exercise.

Starting Position: Lie on your back on an exercise matt with your knees in the air and feet flat on the floor. Movement: Bring your right heel to rest on your left thigh. Loop your hands around your left thigh and pull it towards your chest. Hold this position for thirty seconds. Repeat as required on other side. Remember to hold for 10 seconds in each set.

Set Reps and Exercises - How to Structure a Workout

Many people have questions about how many sets they should do for and exercise and how many reps as well as how many exercises for each muscle group. The question is very large and the answer is even larger as it depends on what your goals are.

Number of Exercises

\"exercises Workout\"

First of all we should look at the number of exercises that you are going to do per muscle group. There are nine muscle groups that we can distinguish just for simplicity; calves, quadriceps, hamstrings, abs, chest, back, shoulders, biceps and triceps. The best way to work a muscle is to work all of the muscle fibers and the only way to do this is to do exercises that work the muscle from different angles so that you can tax each part of the muscle. Often advanced body builders will do three or four exercises for each muscle group. This means for example that for your shoulders you would do front lateral raises for the front deltoid, side lateral raises for the medial deltoid and reverse flyes for the rear deltoid.

Number of sets per exercise

Next we will look at the number of sets you will do for each muscle group. I believe that it is important to not overtrain your muscles and the best way to do this is to reduce the number of sets that you do in each workout. The way that I get the sets going when I have had a long layoff is to do one set for each exercise and three exercises for each muscle group. You will be able to gauge when it is time to increase the number of sets by listening to your body. Your muscles quickly adapt to any kind of weight training and so after a couple of weeks you will be able to add a set to one of the exercises and then another set to another exercise maybe a week later and as you get stronger you will feel you have more in you after you have rested a bit after a set and can come back with another set to further push your muscles.

Number of reps per set

Lastly is the number of reps you should do in each set. The prevailing wisdom ever since I can remember is that for a big muscle group like you quads, chest, back, biceps, triceps or hamstrings you should do four to eight reps per set after you have done a warm-up set. For the smaller muscle groups like calves or shoulders you should do a higher number of reps per set this means you should do eight to twelve reps per set. The way to do these sets initially anyway is to warm-up and then do a light weight set for a high number of reps and then move the weight up for each set after and drop the number of reps and for advanced weight lifters the last set is a lower weight for a higher number of reps until you can not move the muscle anymore.

When a person is starting doing weight lifting it is really easy to over do things. The last thing that you want to do is have a really tough workout and then not be able to get out of bed the next day because you are too sore. The best feeling and results are if you do weights one say and then are a little stiff the next day but feel better after some stretching and the next day feel next to no pain.

Thigh Exercises to Make Your Flabby Thighs Firm, Shapely, and Sexy

Thigh exercises with barbells, dumbbells and cumbersome machines. That's all you've been reading about before you got to this article. I know, because I've seen what you've already looked at before you came here.

It's one of the main reasons I chose to write this article. But, before I get into what you need to know about extremely effective and surprisingly simple thigh exercises you can do anywhere, anytime - without strenuous weights and dangerous exercise machines, I want to give you my experienced based perspective on the typical 'weights and machines - bodybuilder, weightlifter, old-school personal trainer' approach to fitness for women.

\"exercises Workouts\"

It's not the only way of doing something that can be done several other ways. And it's certainly not right for everybody. Fitness instructors and trainers are trained to teach people how to lift weights and use machines. This is fine - but it is just one element in the bigger picture of ways to pursue fitness.

Some of the most effective workouts for toning and shaping your thighs can be achieved with no weights and no equipment.

Factors such as bodyweight, gravity, speed of movement, form and sequence of exercises can be combined and coordinated to give anyone a targeted, results delivering lower body workout that is realistic enough to be a regular routine for any woman.

These elements, when followed on a consistent basis - as part of a regular fitness routine, combined with a wise nutritional intake that is in line with a woman's specific health and fitness goals can produce results that success stories are made out of.

The thigh area is loaded with a bunch of different muscles of various lengths, shapes and thickness. Additionally, the functions of these muscles are all different. However, they must all coordinate with each other to perform the many movements we are capable of.

By taking advantage of these anatomical factors, a complete workout routine of thigh exercises can be devised and implemented with results that are second to none. It doesn't matter if the goal is to lose unnecessary fat and cellulite while firming the muscles underneath or if the goal is to build up and add shapely muscle tone to a flat and scrawny hip and thigh area - the exercises are just as effective in both cases. The big difference in these two cases would be caloric intake.

If we take a female with twenty seven pounds of extra body fat - mostly in the lower body, and we take another female who is very skinny, with no muscle tone - just some flabby skin and maybe some cellulite. The exercise routine can be almost identical - because the desired end results are almost the same but because of the difference in starting points, there has to be a difference in caloric intake.

One promoting fat loss with muscle shaping and the other promoting some muscle growth and toning.

Both subjects are trying to improve the same areas of their bodies. They have the same muscles - and these muscles anatomically function the same in all humans - therefore the same thigh exercises can be utilized with success in different scenarios.

3 Amazing Flat Belly Exercises That Most People Don't Know About

If you want to discover 3 flat belly exercises which can work your abs muscles and other body parts at the same time, then you've stumbled upon the right article. One of the best ways to work the stomach muscles is to do resistance training of other body parts with exercises which work the belly indirectly.

What do I mean by working the stomach indirectly? With each exercise, you have the main muscles and you have supporting muscles. for instance, when you do push-ups, you're mostly working your pecs, but your shoulder muscles and triceps serve as supporting muscles and also get pumped. The stomach serves as a supporting muscle for many exercises. Doing these exercises means that you're flattening your belly at the same time that you're working other body parts. And it's often more effective than doing traditional stomach workouts.

\"exercises Workout\"

Here are 3 exercises for a flat belly which I urge you to begin doing today:

1. Pull ups - the pull up is a massive exercise. It mostly works the back muscles, but if you ask a friend to place his or her hand on your abs while you're doing it, they'll report that it's hard as steel. That's because the abs are straining like crazy. Even doing 5 pull ups is more of a flat belly exercise than 50 sit ups. And yes, even women can do this exercise.

2. Push ups - When you're doing push ups you need to make sure that your stomach is tucked in. In that way, your abs are working hard all through the push ups. Regardless of the type of push up that you do: horizontal, elevated, or counter elevated, the stomach is still working. Push ups work your entire upper body and they're a great exercise to flatten your belly.

3. Pull down - this is performed by pulling down the pulley cable and is really a softer version of the pull up (yes I know it sounds weird but they do similar things). When you pull the cable down from above your head down to your waist, you upper body goes through a complete extension which means that your belly muscles are straining. Again, the belly serves a supporting role, but it doesn't mean that it's not straining.

Do these 3 flat belly exercises and you will see results throughout your upper body, not just your abs.

3 Back Fat Exercises

One of the best exercises you can do in order to lose back fat is to do cardiovascular workouts. The main reason is that cardio can help you to burn the most body fat overall. Yet some cardiovascular workouts are better for shaping your back than others. This article will describe the best cardiovascular workouts to accomplish that goal.

What makes a particular workout better for this purpose than others? Some aerobic activities incorporate the back muscles into every movement. This means that you're toning your back while burning a lot of calories and fat. By doing these workouts instead of others, you're shaping your basically killing 2 birds with 1 stones.

\"exercises Workouts\"

3 Back Fat Cardiovascular Exercises

1. Rowing - This is probably the premium back aerobic workout. What better way to work the back and burn a ton of calories at the same time than rowing? Whether you do it on an actual boat or on a rowing machine, this is an excellent exercise to lose back fat and tone up your muscles. As an added benefit, it also works your arms and shoulders. By changing the angle in which you do the rowing motion, you can work the lower and upper back muscles. This is a high intensity workout, so expect a real challenge.

2. Jogging - Most people swing their arms backwards and forwards while they jog. This subtle arm swinging causes the back muscles to tense and relax over and over again, toning them up. This doesn't place the same strain on the muscles as rowing does, but it's still an excellent exercise to get rid of back fat because it burns a lot of calories. Of course jogging also works other body parts. It's more of a complete cardio exercise than rowing. Walking is similar to jogging because the arm movements are the same. However, walking is much less intensive than jogging, so expect slower results.

3. Swimming - This is an excellent cardiovascular workout for back fat since it incorporates the upper body muscles into every stroke. We all know how swimmers look right? Whichever stroke you do, swimming tones up the entire upper body and gets you to burn a lot of back fat fast. Give it a try. You will also tone your shoulders, chest, and arms.

I hope you've enjoyed this article and feel energized to go and do some cardio. Even if you can't do one of the 3 workouts I've outlined above, any workout is better than nothing. Just get active.
